Aah, theres nothing like a summer wedding. As we raise our glasses to Kate and Wills, five super-stylish my-wardrobers share their own Big Day fashion moments.
Emma, a childhood friend of mine married her sweetheart in a traditional Spanish church in the hills - the open air reception had the backdrop dreams are made of. I wanted a dress that was both elegant and suitable for the 80 degree heat and as I decided to wear my hair up, strapless and long seemed the most suitable option for a religious ceremony. I chose a bare décolletage and earrings that looked pretty in the sunshine. It was a magical day.
I love a riot of colour, especially during the
summer months. This was taken last July at a
great friends wedding, where I decided to go
all out in bright hues. I chose a pretty floral
shift, red tailoring, sky high Terry de
Havillands and a vintage clutch for a bit of mix
and match. It was a classic English wedding in
the great Lincolnshire countryside and the
rainbow of colours in the congregation looked
amazing. Why be colour shy?
I wore this dress to a friends wedding in Ibiza
last August. It was an idyllic day with a bright
white church and flower-strewn villa in the
hills. I always think a maxi feels chic for a
summer event and I love how the bias cut on
this design gives it a sweet fishtail swish. I
styled it with flats - as much as I love to dress
up there was no way I was wearing heels in 90
degree heat! - which meant I could dance the
night away effortlessly.
This photo makes me really happy - it was
taken at my cousins wedding in Sydney not
long after I had my second little boy. I had been
working really hard to shift the baby weight for
the big day, so when I finally did, I felt great in
my favourite little red dress. For weddings I
always choose a simple dress in a fabulous
colour and then accesssorise with stunning
shoes and jewels. For me, its a winning
formula.
I wore this outfit to my friends summer
wedding at Shrewsbury Cathedral and was
initially quite apprehensive about wearing a
cream dress (even though it had a black panel
on the back). Casting fear aside, I chose to
off-set the dress with a black fascinator,
statement jewellery and a standout clutch...and
I loved the end result. It felt elegant, but not
overdressed which is perfect for a wedding.
