The Story:
In 1945 one Madame Carven began an haute couture house in the middle of post-war austerity but against the odds, this French powerhouse bought a refreshing approach of accessible luxury to the Parisian fashion world. Soon, film stars such as Leslie Caron and royalty (no less than an Egyptian princess) were firm fans of the chic designs and a legendary label was born. Simple and refined, the collection has modernised but not departed from Carven’s fundamental aesthetic. With former Givenchy designer Guillaume Henry at the head a breath of fresh air has been injected into the brand. Rich colours, sumptuous silks and, of course, the signature twisted waist are used with subtle sophistication while the map print featured was plucked straight from the archive, so you know you’re getting a piece of fashion history.
